Industrial Air Systems uses the TSI DustTrak™ II Aerosol Monitor to assess the application and provide the correct solution for the collection and efficient filtration of mist and smoke.
The best way to know if you are dealing with oil mist or oil smoke or even submicron particles is to use a multi-channel, data-logging, laser photometer for real-time aerosol readings. By using this device an indicative value will be given and with this as a base, the correct process filtration can be selected.
Generally high fluid pressures (> 30 Bar) or high spindle speed (>10’000 rpm) will demand a process filter suitable for oil smoke. At these conditions neat oil is usually used. Not only are the oil smoke particles much smaller than the oil mist particles, they are often many more if you count them.
